During his 1994 draft pick coverage, Kiper made a comment about the Colts needing to find a quarterback. This sparked a dispute between Kiper and general manager Bill Tobin, who responded to Kiper's comments in an interview with Chris Mortensen from ESPN. Since Kiper had never played football, Tobin felt he had no expertise on the subject and should not be making any kind of comments about whom the Colts should pick. Tobin's response fueled a rebuttal from Kiper, that Tobin was not secure in his position.

Kiper's vocals were used in the game ESPN NFL 2K5. He also appeared in NFL Head Coach and Madden NFL 07-08
