Meet The Parents is a 2000 comedy movie about a man who wants to propose to his girlfriend but must ask her parents first.
Plot
Ben Stiller plays Gaylord "Greg" Focker who is head over heels in love with his girlfriend Pam Byrnes, played by Teri Polo. Greg wants to propose to Pam, but knowing she is close with her father, decides to wait until Pam's dad gives him his approval. The couple travel to Pam's parents house for Pam's sister's wedding, which Greg thinks is a good time to talk to her father about the proposal. Things soon change when he meets her father Jack Byrnes, a retired CIA agent played by Robert De Niro. Between a luggage mix-up, spray painting a cat and Jack's lie detector test, no matter how hard Greg tries he is finding it harder and harder to impress Jack.
