Story
Chronicling several real-life actions, and some fabricated, the game follows one squad of elite paratroopers through the trials and tribulations of combat. Recreating such battles as Operation Market Garden and Operation Varsity, Airborne forces players to hone their skills and tactics throughout the game, eventually paving the way for Allied victory in Europe.
Gameplay
A first-person shooter at its core, Airborne offers some interesting takes on the popular genre, allowing players to select their drop points, and base their movements on strategy and enemy tactics. Beyond simply blasting enemies, you'll have to use flanking movements and other battle-tested techniques in order to knock out machine gun nests, tanks, and other dangerous targets.
Series
One of the most distinguished names in first-person shooters, the Medal of Honor franchise includes titles like Frontline, Rising Sun, European Assault, and many more. Rebooted in 2010 with a modern setting in Medal of Honor, the franchise has been known more for World War II era combat during its long history.
Training
Your airborne training consists, appropriately enough, of jumping out of an airplane. Just step out of the door; your chute will deploy automatically. As you drift down to the ground, use your body weight to steer with the Left Stick, and look around with the Right Stick. This takes some getting used to, so use your training jumps to get accustomed to the process. Aim for the green smoke, which, now and throughout the game, marks safe landing zones, where you won't encounter enemy resistance immediately. If you need to slow your descent, you can flare your chute by holding A. Always do this when you're about to land, to ensure a soft landing. Make three jumps, aiming for the center of the bull's eye. When you're done, you can proceed to combat.
