  • Plot

Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) is a high school student who moves to the suburbs of Chicago after living with her parents in Africa her entire life. She had been homeschooled and is now being placed in the public school system. Although she has trouble fitting in, she meets two friends, Janis Ian (Lizzy Caplan) and Damian (Daniel Franzese) who teach her about the different cliques. Cady is invited to sit with and hang out with "The Plastics", a group of superficial, popular girls. When the most popular girl in school, Regina (Rachel McAdams) kisses the boy that Cady likes, she decides to leave "The Plastics", but is convinced to stay by Janis, so she can "get revenge". Cady convinces the girls in "The Plastics" to turn against Regina, kicking her out of the group. Regina becomes upset and makes the "Burn Book" public. The "Burn Book" is a book where "The Plastics" would write rumors and mean things about other people in the school. This turns the school against the girls. Cady is forced to join the Mathletes and misses the first part of the Spring Fling dance. When she arrives, she is named Queen of Spring Fling.
