Meaghan Cheung is a former SEC branch chief of the New York enforcement division. She came under fire in January 2009 after a whisleblower revealed that he had given very specific information to her regarding Bernard Madoff and the ponzi scheme he was running. Cheung had previously signed off on an investigation into Madoff's business practices in 2006, giving him the all clear.
