  • Before Acting

McLean Stevenson didn't begin his acting career until he had turned 31 years of age. Before beginning his career in show business, he sold medical supplies and insurance. McLean Stevenson was the second cousin of Adlai Stevenson and served as the press secretary for his cousin's two runs for the Democratic presidential nomination. It was his Adlai Stevenson that had suggested that McLean Stevenson seek out a career in show business.
