  • On May 12, 2008, McKinney High School yearbook staff realized they had a problem with their recent publication.

Many students appeared in the yearbook with alterations to their photographs, ranging from elongated necks and shortened hair to heads appearing on other people's bodies. One girl's photograph even appears to be nude.

Lifetouch National School Studios stated that they received a request to make the heads the same size and make the eyes appear at the same level in all the pictures. In order to accomplish this, someone made the decision to alter the photographs.

During the process, changes were made to approximately 13% of the yearbook photos. Last year the school had a different issue with Lifetouch, when the studios lost the original photos and they had to be re-taken.

  • Resolution

The company has agreed to republish all of the yearbooks at a cost of $85,000. The high school yearbook staff worked through the weekend to make the corrections, restoring the original photos for republication.
