  • The Speech

During his concession speech, McCain congratulated Barack Obama on a spirited campaign, and noted the importance of electing an African-American president not only for its historical significance, but as indication of how this country has evolved from past prejudices.

At several points during the speech, McCain was interrupted from inaudible screams from the crowd. At one point, McCain said "please, please" in an attempt to silence them. He urged his supporters to move beyond their disappointment and reiterated that America is a nation of people who persevere and never quit.YouTube: John McCain Concession Speech
