  • During his speech at the 2008 Republican Convention accepting the party's nomination for president, John McCain was interrupted by one male, carrying a sign, and two female protesters. McCain responded by saying: "My friends, my dear friends...please, please don't be diverted by the ground noise and the static." He also urged Americans to stop fighting amongst themselves.

    McCain had previously been interrupted by anti-war protesters several times during a speech in Denver, Colorado on May 27, 2008.
