Murray's Disappearance
According to police, Maura Murray e-mailed her professors shortly before she left school, claiming there had been a death in her family and letting them know she'd be absent for a few days. Family members say there was no death in the family. Murray's case was not initially treated as an abduction, because authorities saw no signs of a struggle when they located her car. A massive search was eventually launched, with searchers using helicopters, tracking dogs and ground teams to comb the area around Murray's vehicle. Murray was never found.CNN: Student Wrecks Car on Snowy Road, Disappears
