Matthias Lanzinger

Matthias Lanzinger was injured during the World Cup race on March 2, 2008, and broke his left leg. Due to the extent of the damage, the leg required amputation. Lanzinger lost all blood circulation on the leg and underwent two surgeries following the accident. Critics are questioning the preparedness of the facility, which was not equipped to handle this type of injury and did not have a helicopter on site.
