Mattel

Mattel is one of America's largest toy companies. Its bestselling products include Barbie dolls and Hot Wheels.

In August of 2007, Mattel initiated a recall of nearly 1 million of its toys that had been manufactured in China and had unsafe levels of lead paint. Elliot Handler's wife Ruth Handler founded Barbie and its product line in 1959. Currently the Barbie line is responsible for more than 80% of Mattel's profits.
