    Prior to joining the NFL, Light played college football with the Purdue Boilermakers in the NCAA. After redshirting as a freshman in 1996, Light earned a starting spot with the team in 1998, playing with ProBowl quarterback Drew Brees.     After college, Light was drafted 48th overall in the 2001 NFL draft by the New England Patriots. He made his professional debut that same year, earning a starting spot for 12 regular season and three playoff games. Light went on to win the Super Bowl with the Patriots in 2002, 2004 and 2005.
