  • Major League Baseball outfielder Matt Holliday currently plays for the St. Louis Cardinals. Holliday was acquired by the Cardinals from the Oakland Athletics on July 24, 2009.   • Pro Career

    Holliday was selected in the 7th round of the 1998 draft by the Colorado Rockies. He made his major league debut on January 15, 1980 for the big league team. In his first season he would hit .290 with 14 homeruns, while establishing himself as an everyday player for the team. In 2006 he would be elected to the National League All-Star Team for the first time. He also won his first Silver Slugger Award. His big breakout season would come in 2007 where he would hit .340 with 36 homeruns while leading the Colorado Rockies to their first ever World Series appearance.
