Matt Harpring is a professional basketball player, currently playing for the Utah Jazz. He is widely regarded as an excellent all-around versitile role player. In 2003 he was named a team captain for the Jazz.

Early Life
Matthew Joseph Harpring was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on May 31, 1976. He would attend high school at Marist School in Georgia, then move on to the Georgia Institute of Technology. In College, he would be named to the first team All-ACC three times and Third Team All-American. He would finish his career as the school's second all-time leader in points and earned a bachelor's degree in business management.Pro Career
Harpring was selected with the 15th pick in the 1998 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic. In his first season he would be named to the NBA All-Rookie First team and would establish himself as a vital role player for the team. He would miss most of his second season with an injury, than in 2000 he would be traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers. In 2001, Harpring would be traded again, this time to the Philadelphia 76ers. After posting career highs in most categories, Harpring would be a sought after free agent. He would finally select the Utah Jazz. He would again post career highs. After the departures of John Stockton and Karl Malone Harpring would be named team captain. He would re-sign with the team in 2006.Matt Harpring Timeline
