Matt Giraud is a contestant on American Idol: Season 8. Giraud's name was released as one of 36 Idol contestants competing for a spot in the coveted Top 12. His American Idol audition was aired on January 21, 2009. Giraud sang Gavin DeGraw's song "I Don't Want To Be" and was sent to Hollywood. He was saved by the judges special "veto" as a top 7 contestant.

He was eliminated as a top 5 contestant. His final performance on the Idol stage was "My Funny Valentine" for the Rat Pack theme week.
