Matt Albers

  • Matt Albers is a pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles. After attending William P. Clements High School in Sugarland, TX, The Houston Astros drafted Albers in the 23rd round of the 2001 amateur draft. Following five years as a farm prospect Albers made his Astros debut in 2006. He was the first player from the Astros minor league affiliate, Tri-City Valley Cats, to make it to the majors. Before the start of the 2008 season, Albers would be traded to Baltimore along with Luke Scott, Troy Patton, Dennis Sarfate, and Michael Costanzo in exchange for Miguel Tejada.

    Albers throws a hard 90+ mph fastball, which he combines with a curve that strikes out a lot of batters[1].
  • Weaknesses

    Albers sometimes struggles to control his pitches, leading him to walk his share of batters. He is also prone to give up the long ball[1].
