Mathieu Schneider

National Hockey League defenseman Mathieu Schneider plays for the Montreal Canadiens in the National Hockey League. He was traded from the Atlanta Thrashers to the Canadiens on February 16, 2009.ESPN.com: Deal Returns Schneider to Montreal

Schneider has been selected for two NHL All-Star Game appearances and won the Stanley Cup with the Canadiens in 1993. On September 26, 2008, Schneider was traded from the Anaheim Ducks to the Atlanta Thrashers.

Schneider was drafted out of the Ontario Hockey League in 1987 by the Montreal Canadiens. He split his first few seasons between the Canadiens and their minor league affiliates before earning a full roster spot in 1990. He won the Stanley Cup championship with the team in 1993. On April 5, 1995, he was traded to the New York Islanders as part of a five player trade. Just short of a year later, Schneider was traded again, to the Toronto Maple Leafs on March 13, 1996. After missing much of the 1996-1997 season with injuries, he was traded to the New York Rangers on October 14, 1998. Schneider then went to the Los Angeles Kings as a free agent in 2000. Three seasons later, Schneider was traded to the Detroit Red Wings on March 11, 2003. After four seasons in Detroit, Schneider signed as a free agent with the Anaheim Ducks on July 1, 2007.
