Hockey Career
Garon was drafted 44th overall by the Montreal Canadiens during the second round of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. After playing two more seasons in the Quebec Junior Hockey League and competing for Canada at the 1998 World Junior Championships, Garon began his professional career in the 1998-1999 season. Although he played a high of 20 games with the Canadiens in the 2003-2004 season, he spent the bulk of his time playing in the American Hockey League for the next five seasons.
In the summer of 2004, Garon was traded to the Los Angeles Kings, with whom he played for two seasons before signing a two-year $2.2 million contract with the Edmonton Oilers in the summer of 2007. He took over from Dwayne Roloson as the Oilers' starting goalie during the 2007-2008 season and stopped 30 of 32 shootout shots to earn a perfect 10-0 shootout record and become the League's best goalie on the shootout.
