  • Canadian professional hockey player Mathieu Dandenault is a defenseman for the Montreal Canadiens in the National Hockey League. Although he played as a forward throughout his junior career, upon joining the NHL, Dandenault transitioned into a solid defenseman with strong offensive skills.

  • NHL Career

    Mathieu Dandenault was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the second round of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft and made his NHL debut in the 1995-1996 season, earning 12 points in 34 games. He remained with the Red Wings for the next eight seasons, during which they won the Stanley Cup three times: In 1997, 1998 and 2002.

    Up for free agency following the locked out 2004-2005 season, during which he played in Italy, Dandenault signed with the Montreal Canadiens.
