French actor Matheiu Amalric stars in the film The Diving Bell and the Butterfly as Jean Dominique Bauby. Bauby is a magazine editor who suffers a stroke and becomes almost entirely paralyzed. While Bauby is trapped in his own body, he continues to pen his memoirs.
Amalric began acting in French films in the 1980s and has since won three Cesar Awards, France's version of the Oscars. His two Best Actor wins came for his performances in Kings and Queen and The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.
