    • Rarely occurs in men
    • Has similar symptoms to inflammatory breast cancer
    • More likely to get again if you have had it in the past
    • Symptoms: Pain, swelling, redness, lumps in breast, lump in armpit, nipple discharge
    • Left untreated can develop an abscess
    • Treatment: Antibiotics, warm compresses, drinking extra fluids and mild pain relievers
    • Also a problem in veterinary medicine
  • Mastitis is the inflammation of the mammary gland in the breast, and frequently occurs in lactating mothers. It occurs when bacteria enters the breast from a crack or break in the skin or nipple.
