The Masters is a professional golf tournament held every April in Augusta, Georgia. It is considered the first of the four major golf tournaments held each year, along with the United States Open, the British Open, and the PGA Championship.
After holding the Masters Par 3 one-day tournament on Wednesday, the four-day official event began with the honorary opening tee shot, a tradition since 1963. Arnold Palmer did the honors in 2009 for a third straight year.
