The Master Cleanse can be used for weight loss or to detoxify the body. It was created by Stanley Burroughs, a promoter of Naturopathic medicine, in 1941. During the cleanse process you're only allowed to intake a specially prepared drink made of lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper and water as well as saltwater and laxative tea.
