  • The University of Maryland men's basketball team team plays college basketball in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Terrapins, also commonly referred to as "The Terps", have appeared in the NCAA Tournament 22 times. They've qualified for the Final Four twice, and won their only national championship in 2002. They've also won 4 ACC regular season titles and 3 ACC Tournament championships.

    The 2 most successful coaches in school history are Lefty Driesell, who guided the team to 7 tournament and 11 post-season appearances in 17 seasons, and current coach Gary Williams, who's made 12 tournament and 15 post-season appearances in 18 seasons. Among the great players to don the Maryland colors have included Joe Smith, Tom McMillen, Buck Williams, Steve Francis, Juan Dixon, Len Elmore, John Lucas, Albert King, Gene Shue, and the late Len Bias.
