Mary Steenburgen is an American actress who has been working in the entertainment industry since 1978.

Mary Steenburgen has appeared in many films which include Melvin and Howard, Parenthood, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Elf and The Brave One. Her resume also includes various television roles such as Joan of Arcadia, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Ink and Becker.

In 2008, Steenburgen played the role of Will Ferrell's mother in the film Step Brothers. This is the second time in a film she portrayed a maternal role toward Ferrell.
