  • Mary Kay Letourneau is a former teacher who, in 1996, began an affair with then 13-year-old student, Vili Fualaau. Letourneau served seven years in prison, during which she gave birth to a child fathered by Fualaau. A year after Letourneau's release in 2004, she and Fualaau were married.

  • Life and History

    Letourneau's husband became aware of the affair in 1997 when he discovered letters exchanged between his wife and Fualaau and revealed the relationship to the boy's family and the authorities.

    Letourneau was sentenced on a statutory rape charge and served three months in prison. When she was discovered with Fualaau after her release she was sentenced to an additional seven years.

    While in prison, Letourneau gave birth to Fualaau's child.

    After he release in 2004, Fualaau, then 21, petitioned to have the no-contact order lifted. On May 20, 2005 Letourneau and Fualaau were married.
