  • Mary Chapin Carpenter is a Grammy-Award winning singer-songwriter and guitarist whose style is often classified as country, yet whose style ranges from Folk and Bluegrass to Pop and Rock. As of November 21, 2008, she also started working as a regular columnist for the Washington Times.
  • Career

    After spending years performing as a Folk singer in clubs around the Washington, DC area, Carpenter signed with Columbia Records who re-packaged her as a Country artist. After a couple of moderately successful albums, she finally hit it big with the 1992 album Come On, Come On. The album sold more than 4 million copies and won her a Grammy Award. Since her commercial peak, Carpenter has continued to release albums and actively works to support a variety of charities. Most recently, Carpenter has signed on to write a regular column for the Washington Times.
