Marva Wright is a New Orleans blues singer. On June 6, 2009, she suffered a stroke just after she finished one of her regularly scheduled performances at the CoCo Club. According to relatives, Wright was slurring her speech and was not feeling well, so paramedics were called to the Bourbon Street club. Medical Condition
On June 6, 2009, Wright's daughter, Gerry McKey, confirmed that Wright was receiving treatment in a local New Orleans hospital and has limited movement on her right side. McKey told reporters that her mother has diabetes as well as high blood pressure.
