Marv Levy

  • Marv Levy is a retired NFL Head Coach & General Manager. Marv Levy started his career in football as the assistant coach at Coe College between the the years of 1953-1954. He then moved to the NFL to coach the Kansas City Chiefs between the years 1978-1982. Levy then held his longest stint as head coach with the Buffalo Bills from 1986-1997.
  • Early Years

    Born in Chicago, Illinois, Levy joined the U.S. Air Force during WWII. Upon return Levy enrolled in Coe College in Iowa he then pursued a Masters Degree at Harvard University in English History.
  • Coahing Life

    Although Levy contemplated attending Law School, he decided to return to Coe College to fill an assistant coaching position. He then moved to a head coaching position at the University of New Mexico. After two season Levy moved on to coach the Cal Bears, where he hired Bill Walsh as an assistant. In 1986, Ralph Wilson hired Marv Levy to coach the Buffalo Bills. Levy had a predominantly successful tenure as coach of the Bills, making it to four consecutive Super Bowls, however, he could not lead his team to victory in any of the contests. Levy was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001.
