Career Highlights
Prior to his NHL career Turco attended and played for the University of Michigan. He was a key player as the Michigan Wolverines won two NCAA titles and was rewarded with Rookie of the Year honors as well as All-Star selections. He was drafted 124th overall in the 1994 NHL Draft by the Dallas Stars. Following his college graduation, Turco played for the Stars' minor league affiliate for two seasons. He made his NHL debut with the Stars in the 2000-01 season, backing up Ed Belfour. Belfour entered free agency in 2002 and Turco took over the starting netminder duties. Turco started to shine the following season and was selected for his first NHL All-Star Game and runner-up for the Vezina Trophy for the league's best goaltender. -
