  • Police are looking into whether Josef Fritzl, was involved in the murder of Martina Posch in 1986. Posch had no familial link to Fritzl but Fritzl's wife owned a guest house at the lake at the time of the murder. Austrian police have noted that Posch bore a resemblance to his daughter Elisabeth.

Austrian Fritzl was arrested on April 28, 2008 for imprisoning his daughter in a windowless cellar for 24 years. During that time, he constantly raped her and she bore him 7 children. Posch's bound body was found on a shore of the Lake of Mondsee in Upper Austria. Fritzl kept his daughter and her children imprisoned in a special cellar in the Austran town of Amstetten.

Fritzl's wife, Rosemarie, owned a guest house on the other side of the lake and Fritzl took regular vacations to Mondsee.

Police will attempt to collect DNA evidence from the Posch case. They also confirmed that they will attempt discover whether Fritzl was at the lake in November 1986.

Josef Frizl first incarcerated his daughter in 1984. Since the Fritzl's confession another woman has come forward saying that Fritzl raped her in 1967. Fritzl was convicted of this crime.
