Martin Short is a Canadian actor, comedian, writer and producer. He has appeared in many hit movies including "The Santa Clause 3" and "The Spiderwick Chronicles". He is also an accomplished television actor and voice actor for animated productions, and has appeared in shows such as "Arrested Development", "Saturday Night Live" and "Damages".
Short attended McMaster University in his hometown of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada with other notable comedians such as Eugene Levy and Dave Thomas. In 1977, Short, along with Levy and Thomas joined the comedy troupe "The Second City" and became a star on SCTV (Second City Television).
Short moved on to Saturday Night Live in 1984 and carried over many of the characters he had created for SCTV. Over the course of his time on SNL he became well known for his awkward character Ed Grimley.
2010 Oscars
Early on, it was rumored that Martin Short would be performing a musical number along with Neil Patrick Harris and hosts Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. Personal Life
Short was born on March 26th 1950 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He attended and graduated from Westdale High School in his hometown. Short is the youngest of 5 siblings.
He married Nancy Dolman in December 1980, and together had 3 children; Katerine (born 1983), Oliver (born 1986) and Henry (born 1990). The couple currently reside in Pacific Palisades, California, with a vacation home in the Muskoka region of Ontario.
