Martin Rucinsky is a professional hockey player originally from the Czech Republic. He currently plays with the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League.
Early Years
Rucinsky was drafted out of the Czech Extraliga 20th overall in the 1991 NHL Draft by the Edmonton Oilers. He made his NHL debut that same year, playing two games before he was traded to the Quebec Nordiques on March 10, 1992. He stayed with the franchise as they relocated in 1995, becoming the Colorado Avalanche. Later that season, on December 6, 1995, Rucinsky was traded to the Montreal Canadiens. He continued to play with the Canadiens through 2001, including in 1998 when he won a gold medal in the Winter Olympics with the Czech Team. On November 21, 2001, Rucinsky was traded to the Dallas Stars.
Recent Years
Rucinsky was traded yet again on March 12, 2002, going to the New York Rangers. He entered the free agency after the season and signed with the St. Louis Blues on October 25, 2002. After one season with the Blues, he returned as a free agent to the Rangers on August 28, 2003. A March 9, 2004 trade sent him to the Vancouver Canucks. He did not play during the NHL Lockout, then returned to the NHL, signing again with the Rangers on August 3, 2005. The following year Rucinsky entered free agency again, returning to the St. Louis Blues on August 2, 2006.
