Martin McDonagh

Martin McDonagh is an Irish playwright and film director. He began his career writing plays for the British and American theaters. He was nominated for Tony Awards for his productions of The Beauty Queen of Leenane, The Lonesome West,The Pillowman, and The Lieutenant of Inishmore. Seguing from theater to films, McDonagh's first short Six Shooter won him an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short.

McDonagh once again found himself with an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay in 2009 for his film In Bruges, but the award went to Dustin Lance Black for Milk.
