Former professional football cornerback Martin Mayhew was named the general manager of the Detroit Lions in the National Football League on December 29, 2008. Playing Career
After playing college football with the Florida State Seminoles, Mayhew was 262nd overall in the 1988 NFL draft by the Washington Redskins. He made his professional debut with the Redskins in 1989, playing four seasons with the team and helping them win Super Bowl XXVI in 1992. Management Career
After leaving the NFL as a player, Mayhew completed his law degree at Georgetown University and worked as an inters with the Washington Redskins front office. He also worked at a law firm in Washington, D.C. where he assisted with corporate law cases.
