  • Gritty, aggressive forward Martin Lapointe plays professional hockey for the Ottawa Senators in the National Hockey League.

    Lapionte was selected tenth overall by the Detroit Red Wings during the 1991 NHL Entry Draft and earned one assist while playing in four NHL games during the 1991-1992 season. He split the next three seasons between playing for the Red Wings and their American Hockey League affiliate before becoming a regular on the Detroit roster for the 1995-1996 season. The next two seasons, Lapointe proved himself a valuable member of the Red Wings' team and was a contributing factor in their back to back Stanley Cup wins in 1997 and 1998.

    After eleven seasons with the Red Wings, Lapointe signed as a free agent with the Boston Bruins in the summer of 2001. He played three seasons with the Bruins before joining the Chicago Blackhawks for another three seasons. He was traded to the Senators in February of 2008.
