  • Martin Havlat is professional hockey player from the Czech Republic, currently playing for the Chicago Blackhawks in the National Hockey League.
  • Early Years

    Havlat began his career playing for the HC Ocelari Trinec in the Czech Extraliga, or Czech Elite League. He was drafted 26th overall in the 1999 NHL Draft by the Ottawa Senators. He joined the Senators for his NHL debut in 2000, playing 73 games. He scored 19 goals and 23 assists, earning him a Calder Trophy nomination, as the NHL's Rookie of the Year. In 2002, Havlat represented the Czech Republic in the Winter Olympics. The following year he was suspended for two games after hitting Mark Recchi in the face with a stick.
  • Recent Career

    Havlat returned to the Czech Republic during the 2004-05 NHL Lockout. He rejoined to the Senators after the lockout, earning another suspension. Havlat sat out for five games after kicking Hal Gill during a game. On July 9, 2006, Havlat was part of a three team trade, sending him to the Chicago Blackhawks. He missed two months with a ankle injury, but returned to the team and was selected for his first NHL All-Star Game appearance in 2007. At the conclusion of the 2006-07 regular season, Havlat underwent surgery on his shoulder, but was able to return to the Blackhawks for 35 games during the 2007-08 regular season.
