Martin Freeman is a British actor. Though he appeared in several TV shows in the United Kingdom (and the occasional movie) before 2001, he achieved international fame as lovesick desk jockey Tim Canterbury on the British version of The Office alongside Ricky Gervais and Lucy Davis. In the American version of the show, Tim's counterpart is Jim Halpert (played by John Krasinski).
After The Office, Freeman landed the coveted role of Arthur Dent, lead character in 2005's The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, a film adaptation of the hugely popular science fiction novel by Douglas Adams. He has also appeared in Love Actually, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The All Together.
