Martha Byrne started out as an American child actress who was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey. She began her Broadway career by performing in the Broadway musical Annie playing the character July who was one of the orphans. Martha Byrne, since childhood, has been involved with St. Jude's Children's Research. Her mother was instrumental in introducing her to the special mission of this hospital. She has been involved as a fund raiser for over eleven years.
Career
Over the course of her careers she has been featured in a number of regular dramatic television programs some of which were, Kate & Allie, Murder, She Wrote,Parker Lewis Can't Loose, Jake and the Fatman, and Hearts are Wild. Her film credits include When the Cradle Falls, Pink Lighting, and the HBO movie which cast her in the starring role as Anna to the Infinite Power.

Martha Byrne is an eight time Daytime Emmy Award nominee and won Outstanding Younger Actress in 1987 and Outstanding Lead Actress in 2001.
Turn Of Events
Martha Byrne wanted to continue with her role on As the World Turns, by making sure she would be guaranteed as many episodes as she did in 2007 in contract negotiations with the studio. The studio contends that it did every thing in their power to keep her there. Noelle Beck took over her part to play Lily. Noell Beck will assume the role starting in May of 2008.
