Houston was born on August 4, 1981 in Los Angeles, California. In 1992 he came onto the music scene as part of the R&B/Rap group Immature which he formed together with Jerome "Romeo" Jones and Kelton "LDB" Kessee. The group released their first album name on our worst behavior in 1992, but it wasn't until their second album in 1994 that they experienced real success. The album named Playtime featured the hits 'Never Lie' and 'Constantly' After their second album the group release two more albums; We Got It (in 1995) and The Journey (in 1997). Even though Houston was successful in his professional life, his personal family life was not going well. He experienced his mother dying of cancer and wrote several songs about it including the songs Alone and Please don't go. It wasn't until 2003, after IMX broke up, that Marques decided to go solo.

Houston also worked with various other artists and focused more on the production side of the music industry when doing so. he has worked with names such as Destiny's Child, 50 Cent, and B2K.
As for his acting career, Houston might also be known to many as the next door neighbor on the television show Sister, Sister. He played Roger Evans for 5 of the 6 seasons that the show aired. Other television shows Houston appeared in include American Dreams, One on One, Cuts, and A Different World.
