Marques Colston

Marques Colston is an NFL wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints. He played college football at Hofstra University where he played in 40 games and started 37. He was named to the All Rookie team following the 2006 season by Pro Football Weekly and the Dallas Morning News. Marques Colston attened Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York. As a freshman in 2001, Colston caught 14 passes and scored three touchdowns. He increased his playing time and receptions as a sophomore in 2002. He caught 47 passes for 614 yards and three touchdowns. Colston started to become a big time play maker his junior season when he caught 51 passes and scored seven touchdowns. He missed all of the 2004 season due to a shoulder injury but came back his senior season to catch 70 passes for 915 yards and nine touchdowns. His efforts landed him on the All Atlantic 10 Conference team. In 2006, Colston tied Donte Stallworth for most touchdown receptions by a Saint as a rookie. Colston lead all rookies in receiving yards with 1,038. He did that in just 14 games because he was inactive on November 26 and December 3 due to an injury against the Cincinnati Bengals on November 19. On October 1 against the Carolina Panthers, Marques Colston scored on an 86 yard reception, the longest in Saints history for a rookie. He played in both playoff games and caught 10 passes for 118 yards. Colston was named NFL Rookie of the Month for October and to two post season all rookie teams.

Colston played in all 16 games in 2007, leading the Saints in receptions with 98, yards with 1,202 and touchdowns with 11. The 11 touchdowns tied Joe Horn for most touchdown receptions in a season. He scored more than one touchdown in a game three times, lead the team in first downs and set a team record for receptions in a season. His best game of the season was against the Jacksonville Jaguars on November 4 when he caught 10 passes for 159 yards.

In the first game of the 2008 season, Colston injured his left thumb. The injury required surgery and Colston missed the next five games of the season. He played with a brace on his hand and also battled a knee injury the entire season. As a result, he caught just 47 passes for 760 yards and 5 touchdowns for the season. He had 7 catches for 140 yards against the Atlanta Falcons on November 9. Colston also had 100 yards in receiving on November 30 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the final game of the season against the Carolina Panthers.

Marques Colston scored at least one touchdown in eight games during the 2009 season. He had over 100 yards receiving against the New York Giants and the New England Patriots. Colston had a season high eight receptions against the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He ended the regular season with 70 receptions, 1074 yards and nine touchdowns. In the divisional playoff, Colston scored a touchdown and six receptions in the Saints 45-14 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
