  • Marley Marl is one of the most influential producers in hip-hop helping to make rap more accessible to the mainstream through his robust sound and catchy "sampling" technique. Marley Marl go his start in the early days of the musical genre as a DJ, mixing work on a number of singles for the old-school hip-hop/electro label Tuff City. After establishing his own label "Cold Chillin'" he set about recruiting for what was to become one of rap's first talent collectives, the "Juice Crew". Consisting of such notable names as: MC Shan, Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, Roxanne Shante, Kool G Rap & DJ Polo, and Masta Ace the Crew, helmed by Marl's production helped usher in rap's "Golden Age".
