Marlene Snipes was a contestant on the ABC reality show Oprah's Big Give. Snipes was among nine contestants who competed for a million dollar prize, by helping others in unique ways.
Snipes is an Amtrak service agent who grew up as one of six children of a single mom in a rough neighborhood of Chicago. On episode one, Snipes was paired with fellow contestant Kim Prentiss on an assignment. Prentiss appeared to be doing most of the work, prompting Big Give judge Tony Gonzalez to call Snipes "lazy". Marlene was the first contestant voted off the show on March 2, 2008.
