Mark Streit is a professional ice hockey player who currently plays for the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League. He signed with the Islanders on July 1, 2008.
Streit is the Captain of the Swiss National Ice Hockey Team and competed for Switzerland in the World Ice Hockey Championships from 2000 to 2004 and again in 2006. He also represented his home country at the 2002 and 2006 Winter Olympics.
NHL Career
Streit was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens during the ninth round of the 2002 NHL draft and joined the team for the 2005-2006 season. During his rookie year, Streit earned 11 points in 49 games. The following year, he more than tripled his point count to 36 and then recorded 66 points in 93 games during the 2007-08 season.
