Mark Millar is a Scottish comic book writer.
Career
Mark Millar was inspired to create comics after meeting Alan Moore. Millar was eventually driven to act on that inspiration under financial duress following the death of his parents. His first professional sale was to Trident Comics in 1990. Under the tutelage of Grant Morrison, Millar worked on various DC Comics titles before taking over the writing for DC's Wildstorm title, The Authority.
The Authority featured many of the thematic and stylistic hallmarks found in most of Millar's work: large casts of characters, brutal violence, wide-screen spectacle, dark comedy and social and political commentary. His work for Marvel Comics, both in their mainstream books and "Ultimate" line, is also known for hard realism and grim humor.
