Early Life
Mark DeRosa was born in Passaic, New Jersey on February 26, 1975. After attending the University of Pennsylvania, where he starred in baseball and football, the Atlanta Braves selected DeRosa in the seventh round of the 1996 amateur draft. After two years as a minor league prospect in the Braves farm system, DeRosa made his major league debut on September 2, 1998.Pro Career
Mark DeRosa played seven seasons in Atlanta before signing with the Texas Rangers prior to the start of the 2005 season. After two seasons as a Ranger, DeRosa signed a free agent deal to join the Cubs.
