• Mark Castillo of Rockville, Maryland, confessed to killing his three young children in a hotel on March 30, 2008 by drowning them in the tub. According to Baltimore police, Castillo called the front desk of the Marriott Hotel to report the deaths. The children were Anthony age six, Austin age four, and Athena only two years old. Castillo was taken to the hospital for treatment of 'self inflicted wounds' to the neck.

• Previous Threats

  Maryland court records show that Castillo had been in a custody dispute with his wife, Dr. Amy Castillo since July 2006. The divorce was made final in February of 2008. Dr. Amy Castillo had asked for the courts protection, fearing her Mark Castillo would kill the children, after he threatened to do so, but her request was denied in 2007.

• Charged With Murder

  Mark Castillo was charged with three counts of first-degree murder, and six counts of child abuse. He was arrested upon being discharged from the hospital where he was being treated for cutting his own neck on March 31, 2008.
