Marjorie Margolies was an Emmy-award winning journalist when she interviewed Iowa congressman Edward Maurice Mezvinsky in 1970s. They married, and after he lost reelection in 1976, the couple moved to her native Pennsylvania. In 1992, she ran for Congress and was elected, serving for one term. She cast the deciding vote for Bill Clinton's unpopular budget, widely believed to be the reason she lost the next election.The Silken Tent: My Letter to the World (February 27, 2002)In 2001, her husband was arrested for massive fraud, and convicted in 2003 to serve almost seven years.
