Mario Strikers Charged is a soccer based video game developed for the Nintendo Wii. The game is much like other sports titles featuring characters in the Super Mario Bros. series; players compete in an over-the-top type of soccer game, with the goal of outscoring the opposition. It was one of the first Nintendo Wii games to have Internet capabilities, and players can participate in online games and tournaments. In International versions, the game is known as "Mario Strikers Charged Football." The game received above-average reviews from video game critics.

Gameplay
The soccer ball is metallic and changes color depending on how many times the ball is passed. A white ball has a better chance of going to the goal rather than a purple-colored ball. Players on defense can attack the opposition by tackling or slide tackling the players. Throughout the game players receive items based on whether they're attacked or not. Items include a chain chomp or koopa shells. Bowser, once an item, is now a playable character. Team captains can use special items to either regain control of the ball or score.- Ball striking: If a shot is charged long enough, the character will attempt a special shot. Team captains will attempt a Mega Strike, while other teammates can attempt their own unique special attack. During a Mega Strike, the ball splits into several balls, all going toward the goal. For every goal scored, the player's team earns a point.
